Bathe in the glory of the Olympic stadium and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as you tuck into East London’s newest bottomless brunch…

Offering stunning views over a sprawling Stratford, as well as fabulous fare and beautiful bubbles, the new Sunday brunch at Holiday Inn Stratford City is not to be missed this spring. Hidden among the busy shops, restaurants and bars of the bustling Westfield shopping centre, you’ll find a brunch experience like no other, and here at Wowcher Towers we were lucky enough to be invited along to give it a littletest run.brunch-1

The sun was shining down on Stratford when we headed out East to visit the Holiday Inn, and after a lovely stroll through the outside walkways of the shopping centre we headed into the hotel building. Upon arrival in the bright and airy lobby we were struck by the sun beaming through the vast glass panelling along the side of the hotel, not to mention the stunning views out across the Olympic Park and the surrounding areas of East London. The hotel has really made the most of its location and celebrates it at every opportunity – with Olympic memorabilia from signed sport jerseys to emotive photos and a real Olympic Torch adorning the walls, the hotel has clearly embraced its connection with the 2012 Olympics. It’s a nice touch for a chain hotel to show their pride of and connection to the local area, and I hope this continues as the London Stadium and other venues host other world-class sporting events over the years to come.

After nbrunh-2osing around the hotel it was time for the main event: the brunch itself. The menu offers a selection of savoury and sweet dishes, allowing any lucky guest to sample one of each as well as sipping on a bottomless supply of cool, crisp Prosecco. Traditional dishes such as eggs Benedict are offered alongside more unusual plates like ham, cheese and hash brown frittatas or the 1950’s favourite corn beef hash. We sampled the eggs Florentine and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs – both brunch classics which were filled with flavour and piled on the plate in healthy portions. The Florentine eggs were poached to perfection, with a deliciously runny centre and covered in lashings of Hollandaise sauce. Whilst this was a standout brunch dish, our gold winning savoury selection was the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Chef Charlie’s addition of extra salmon into the scrambled egg mix gave the dish real flavour and texture, whichis oftenlacking in your bog standard scrambled eggs.

After gorging on these marvellous mains, you may feel as though you only have room for another glass or two of bubbly, but when you see the variety of sweet dishes on offer, I am sure Chef Charlie’s cooking will tempt you into sampling some more spectacular specialties. Tuck into sweet waffles topped with fresh berries and mascarpone, cinnamon toast or perhaps a bowl of crunchy granola doused in Greek yoghurt or low-fat milk. Our personal favourite was the French cinnamon toast, fried with finesse and packed full of cinnamon – it was the perfect dish to end our marathon of fine food and drink.

Although our visit was on a Tuesday, there is no doubt in my mind that the restaurant will be buzzing every weekend with Sunday brunchers out for a perfect, Prosecco-filled time. So I’d get your Usain Bolt on and head on down for a brunch experience fit for champions!
